I have a Commander that is just GWU with no colorless mana cost. After the Commander goes back to the commander zone for the first time, it has an additional tax of 2. Can I use Hall of the Bandit Lord to help pay part of the commander tax to give the Commander haste going forward?
Yes. "Commander tax" is an additional cost, and part of the cost to cast the spell. Hall of the Bandit Lord doesn't care where the spell was cast from, just that it was cast and the mana produced was spent to cast it.
