My opponent has a Sarkhan's unsealing on the field and I know he also has a traxos, scourge of kroog , when he wants to play it, I counter it with essence scatter but my opponent says that countering the traxos prevents it from entering the field but nevertheless the spell has been cast as stated on the enchantment card and I take the 4 damage to every creature, planeswalker and player. If this is true , I also had an invoke the divine that I could play but I opted to counter the traxos to keep it from the field
Countering a spell means preventing it from resolving. It does not mean un-casting it, it isn't rewinding the game and undoing the action of casting that spell.
Thraxos was cast, therefore Unsealing's ability triggers from this event, even if you then counter Thraxos, this ability is already on the stack and will resolve regardless.
Even if you cast Invoke the Divine in response to Traxos, that still won't do you any good. The enchantment triggers as soon as Traxos is cast, and that trigger goes on top of that spell. Only afterwards do you get to respond. But the trigger on the stack is independent from its source, removal of the enchantment won't stop the trigger.
I knew he had the traxos in hand, but I only had enough mana on the field to either invoke the divine in my previous turn (which I didn't do because I had the essence scatter in hand, thinking it would deal me no damage ) or either counter his traxos in his turn. I didn't had any removal in hand so countering the traxos and therefore keeping it off the field was my biggest concern. Knowing this now, would make me play the invoke the divine first to get rid of the enchantment and then we will see what I can do against the traxos when holding no removal. The damage it did to my creatures and player was in every way worse than a tapped 7/7 on the field with trample. Wise lessons learned !
