Last night we had a game that hinged on one attack, but we weren't certain how the cards interacted. Pretty sure it's a layering issue, and I hate those.
I had Akroma's Memorial and an army out, and my last opponent swung with a several flying artifact creatures and a Vedalken Humiliator. The Humiliator triggered, making all my creatures 1/1 and stripping abilities from them. But the Memorial was still there with a continuous static affect. So, does the Memorial continue to apply after all of the creatures' native abilities are lost? Or does the Humiliator overwrite even the Memorial's ability, which is separate from my affected creatures?
Both effects, Memorial's static one and Humiliator's triggered one, are applied in the same layer. None depend on the other, so they are applied in time stamp order. The time stamp of the Memorial's effect is the same as the Memorial's itself, its time of entering the battlefield. The time stamp of the Humiliator's effect is the time of the trigger resolving. So since you already controlled the Memorial when the trigger resolved, all your creatures have no abilities. The Memorial's effect is still there, but so is the trigger's effect overwriting it, they are both continuous effects, ongoing.
112.10c If two or more effects add and remove the same ability, in general the most recent one prevails. See rule 613 for more information about the interaction of continuous effects.

Yes, the memorial continues to apply. The Humiliator only affects your creatures, not your artifacts.Nevermind, Rezzahan is correct. My art blog
