I was wondering if I could activate the effect of Detection Tower after the beginning of the current end phase to remove hexproof from my opponents and their creatures until my next turn? Similar to individuals killing off The Scarab God after the beginning of the end step so that he does not return to a player's hand until the subsequent end step. I'm playing UR Counterburn and need a way to beat Hexproof. Thanks.
"Until end of turn" is not the same as "at the beginning of the next end step".
Effects with a duration of "until end of turn" or "this turn" end in the Cleanup Step, which comes after the End Step. And you normally do not receive priority in the Cleanup Step (and even when you do, another Cleanup Step is performed, so any new effects still end there).
So, if you active Detection Tower in your opponent's end step, the effect stil ends when that turn ends and doesn't extend to the following turn.
Detection Tower's second ability says "[u]ntil end of turn", and an effect of that form ends during the cleanup step, before the next turn (C.R. 514.2; see also C.R. 514.3). This differs from abilities that trigger "at the beginning of the next end step", which wait until the beginning of the next end step, whenever that is, and trigger at that moment (C.R. 603.7; see also C.R. 603.7b, 614.10a).
