If you create a token that's a copy of Arcanis with Inalla's first ability, and thereby control two or more legendary permanents named Arcanis the Omnipotent, you must have all but one of them go to the graveyard as a state-based action (C.R. 704.5j). (The ones that go to the graveyard this way do not have to include the token you just created this way.)
He specified that he’d let the token die. It’s true that either the token or the original could be chosen, but in the OP’s scenario, the token would die due to state based actions before he would have the opportunity to tap it and draw 3.
