Does Helm of the Host trigger regardless of whether you choose to attack? I was checking online and from what I’m understanding, you go to the combat phase regardless of whether you declare attackers. It’s just that no attackers would be declared during the declare attackers step. So if I have the Helm equipped to a creature, do I get the token regardless of whether I attack so long as the Helm is equipped?
The combat phase is divided like this:
Beginning of Combat Step
Declare Attackers Step
Declare Blockers Step
Combat Damage Step
End of Combat Step
Hel,m triggers at the beggining of combat which is right after you have gone from the main phase to the combat phase. The trigger ill have triggered and resolved before any creatures are declared attackers and teh copy from helm even has haste so it can attck aswell if you want to.

500.1. A turn consists of five phases, in this order: beginning, precombat main, combat, postcombat main, and ending. Each of these phases takes place every turn, even if nothing happens during the phase. (...)
506.1. The combat phase has five steps, which proceed in order: beginning of combat, declare attackers, declare blockers, combat damage, and end of combat. The declare blockers and combat damage steps are skipped if no creatures are declared as attackers attackers or put onto the battlefield attacking (see rule 508.8). There are two combat damage steps if any attacking or blocking creature has first strike (see rule 702.7) or double strike (see rule 702.4).
what if helm of the host is equipped to legion warboss? would the new legion warboss token ability trigger before going into the declare attackers part of the combat phase?

No. The Warboss needs to already exist when the Beginning of Combat Step begins for its ability to trigger. The token-copy is created when Helm's ability resolves, and at this moment it is already past the "beginning of combat" point.
