Hi recently I was playing a game of commander with my friend. Me and him havent play a lot till recently but from time to time he mixes up cards and rulings. Usually I go to the official documents but for this question I couldn't find a distinct answer. On his turn he equipped skullclamp to a 2/2 wolf token then proceeded to un-equip the skullclamp and equip it to another creature. At this point he argued that the 2/2 wolf became a 3/1 wolf because like counters the +1/-1 stood on the creature till the end phase. Am I incorrect in saying that it isn't the case because the card says equipped creature gain such and such not it has such and such. Also pardon my wording but in short I would like to know if the abilities of an a equipment stays on the creature after unequiping it?
Static effects, like Skullclamp and other equipments, are only in affect what they say they do. Once Skullclamp is moved, it's no longer equipped to the Wolf token, so it is no longer the equipped creature and does not benefit from the P/T modifications.

Rule 604.4: Many Auras, Equipment, and Fortifications have static abilities that modify the object they’re attached to (…). If an Aura, Equipment, or Fortification is moved to a different object, the ability stops applying to the original object and starts modifying the new one.
