Is the Artifact a Creature? If not, then it is a Noncreature and Blood Funnel will trigger. You will need to sac a creature or let your spell be countered.
Creature Spells are spells just like any other so Counterspell can counter then just fine. In fact, some counterspells *only* work on creature spells: Essence Scatter.
And, again, if it is not a creature (such as a noncreature artifact), it is a noncreature spell.
You may be misunderstanding what a spell is. A spell is something that was cast and is on the stack currently, or a copy of something that fits that description.
When you cast a creature and before it resolves, it's a creature spell.
In other words: look at the cards in your hand. ALL of them will be spells when you play them, except lands. Lands are the ONLY cards which are not spells.
Rule 111.1: A spell is a card on the stack. [...]
Rule 111.1a: A copy of a spell is also a spell, even if it has no card associated with it.
Rule 302.1: A player who has priority may cast a creature card from his or her hand [...]. Casting a creature as a spell uses the stack.
Rule 305.1: A player who has priority may play a land card from his or her hand [...]. Playing a land is a special action; it doesn’t use the stack [...]. Since the land doesn’t go on the stack, it is never a spell, and players can’t respond to it with instants or activated abilities.
And, again, if it is not a creature (such as a noncreature artifact), it is a noncreature spell.
When you cast a creature and before it resolves, it's a creature spell.
