Hi all,

My mate who got me into commander says that when you knock out an opponent, you gain 5 life, but I can’t seem to find anything like this in the multiplayer or commander rules, or from google searches, so I don’t know where he got this from. Is this a thing?

No, that is not a real rule. You can house rule whatever you want, but nothing in the official rules grant you life for killing a player.
