After attackers are declared, and an effect removes them from combat, do they remain tapped?

What effect is removing them from combat? They will normally remain tapped but it depends on the effect so please provide an example of the card in use here.

That effect doesn't say anything about untapping the creature so the creature will still be tapped even after being removed from combat.
