This might be an easy one but I just wanna be sure.
I have an Arcane Adaptation naming killbot and any host creature augmented with any augment. If I switch the host with Mary O’Kill will the augment stay on her? What if there’s a Rules Lawyer in play?
Once a host is combined with an augment, both cards are considered one creature. So, you can switch Mary with the creature, but it will return both the host and augment cards to your hand.
Follow up. Same scenario but I respond to the augment activation by switching the host. Anything different in that scenario?
If you switch the Host creature out with a Killbot or Mary O'Kill while the Augment ability is on the stack, then the Augment ability will fizzle. As the Augment ability targets a "Host" creature. None of the Killbots or Mary are Hosts.
Here's a construction:
- Two Hosts in play (let's say Adorable Kitten and Mer Man, just as something to reference)
- Arcane Adaptation naming Killbot
- Activate an augment ability (let's say Ninja) targeting Mer Man
- Respond by switching Mary with Mer Man
- Still in response to the augment, switch Mary with something like Shapesharer
- Still in response to the augment, activate Shapesharer to make itself an Adorable Kitten
- Ninja's ability resolves on the Shapesharer Adorable Kitten, forming a Ninja Kitten
- At your next turn, Shapesharer's copy effect ends
What do?

If a host was actually a copy of a creature, when the copy effect ends the augmented creature falls apart. From Maro

Hope that helps.
