So, me and my Fiancée were playing together and came across a really weird scenario that I think I understand, but it involves a lot of stack rulings and It's honestly a mess for me to try to understand.
Artisan of Kozilek Has an ability that when it's cast, it returns a target creature to the battlefield
Cryptic Command Has the option to Counter a target spell, and can also choose to return a permanent to the hand.
Now, I already think I know that cast means that Kozilek's ability goes on the stack even if it's countered, I suppose the confusion comes from WHEN the returned creature hits the battlefield, and if it can be hit by Crytic's return permanent ability. How does this whole interaction work? Does the creature exist when Cryptic is on the stack?
Artisan of Kozilek's ability triggers when Artisan is cast. It is a regular triggered ability that uses the stack, so it goes to the stack above Artisan and you declare its target at this moment. The targeted creature card will enter the battlefield when this ability resolves, which is before the Artisan spell can resolve if it is not countered.
So, there is a way to have Cryptic Command both counter Artisan and bounce the creature; your opponent just needs to declare she's casting Cryptic Command after the ability resolves, but before Artisan resolves.

I cast Artisan of Kozilek and she responds with Cryptic Command to hit Kozilek, and also the potential returned creature
