If i use The Scarab God ability to 'eternalize' a creature from a graveyard, then my opponent use Disallow to counter it, does the creature get exiled?
I think not because [Cost] : [Effect], and exile a creature count as effect, not the cost and it's different with eternalize because eternalize exile the creature as cost. I just want a clarification, Thanks!
When an ability is countered, it doesn't resolve, so none of its effects occur (C.R. 701.5a), so that in the case of The Scarab God's second ability, the targeted card will remain where it is. You are correct that exiling a creature card is part of the effect of that ability, not a cost (C.R. 602.1), so that unlike if that action were a cost, it doesn't happen if that ability is countered (compare that ability with Null Caller's ability; in general, an ability's costs must be paid for that ability to be activated and be on the stack [C.R. 602.2, 602.2b, 601.2h]).
