My question is regarding the stack and costs involving sacrificing permanents. I will give 2 examples of where my confusion is based.
1. If I have elvish lyrist in play, and I choose to activate its ability, what happens if my opponent responds to this by targeting elvish lyrist with terror ? Will elvish lyrist's activated ability still be on the stack, and destroy target enchantment? OR does terror stop this happening because it destroys elvish lyrist before it can be sacrificed?
2. If I cast tinker, and in accordance with its casting requirements I sacrifice ornithopter, what happens if my opponent responds by destroying ornithopter with disenchant ? Will tinker still resolve, OR will it be countered on resolution, OR will it be removed from the stack ?
1. The Lyrist is already dead for its ability to go on the stack, because of where the colon is in its cost determines when the sacrifice happens.
2. The sacrifice for Tinker is an additional cost so it is paid before anyone else gets priority to respond to the spell. Now if someone were to counter it you would still lose your creature. A card like Reprocess or Scapeshift doesn't sacrifice anything until resolution allowing opponents to respond to permanents or the spell itself.
