So I'm playing with a Spirit Angels deck. I had two creatures on the field, Spirit of the Hearth and Geist of Saint Traft. They are both hexproof and read "you can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control". My boyfriend uses an Angel deck and played Descend Upon the Sinful wich says "Exile all creatures." My question is wether or not my hexproof cards are affected by it.
Hexproof does one thing; it prevents a player or object from being targeted by spells or abilities an opponent controls. Descend Upon the Sinful does not target the creatures or the players so Hexproof will not prevent it from exiling all creatures.
Yes, they are. Hexproof only helps against targeting (by opponents). You can easily tell if a spell or ability is targeted by the use of the word "target" (in the spell's/ability's card text, or the rules text for a keyword ability, and aura spells also target the thing they are going to attach the aura to). Only that word indicates a target. "Each", "all", "you", etc. do not. Remember, that objects and players can be affected without being targeted.
Also, Spirit of the Hearth does not have Hexproof itself. It gives Hexproof to you, the player that controls it. The Spirit can be targeted normally.
Anyway, Descend Upon the Sinful doesn't target anything, no player as well as no creature, so WizardMN's answer remains true: Descent can be cast, and will exile the two creatures.
