I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I haven't played Magic in about 7 years and I'm a bit rusty on the rules. I have Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons in play and then cast Grim Affliction targeting a creature. When it resolves, does Hapatra's ability trigger once or twice? The part I'm confused on is that she reads 'one or more counters' and the Proliferate happens during the resolution of the same card that placed the -1/-1 counter on the creature. I believe it triggers twice, but I want to be sure.
You are correct.
Putting a -1/-1 counter on a creature as a result of Grim Affliction's first instruction and putting another one on the creature as part of proliferating are two separate actions, even though it's the same spell doing it.
