Hi everyone, i'm a beginner. I'm not sure when i was in this situation.
My opponent cast a creature spell, for example, Crocodile of the Crossing. Then i responded with Cancel. And then my opponent cast Hapatra's Mark in order to make his Crocodile hexproof from being targeted by my Cancel, beside it could remove a -1/-1 counter on Crocodile's self.
So, does it really work like i said?
Thank you all!
When Hapatra's Mark says "creature", it means "creature permanent":
109.2. If a spell or ability uses a description of an object that includes a card type or subtype, but doesn’t include the word “card,” “spell,” “source,” or “scheme,” it means a permanent of that card type or subtype on the battlefield.

In addition, hexproof only works for objects on the battlefield (aka permanents) and for players. A card in any other zone even if it has hexproof is not protected by it. So you can Cancel a creature spell with hexproof just fine (example: Slippery Bogle).
