I have a question about Kambal. If i cast him, and my opponnent plays a noncreature counter spell, does his ability trigger, or does he have to be on the battlefield for the ability to be active?
This really should be in the rules section but I'll answer it. Notice it says on "cast", meaning it doesn't matter if it resolves or not, or hits the battlefield (instants and sorceries don't enter the battlefield). Anytime they even attempt to cast a non-creature spell you will drain them for 2 for each spell.
Kambal has to be on the battlefield for any of this to take effect however. In your scenario you Kambal's effect doesn't trigger since Kambal has not resolved on the field.
