Hey so my question doesn't apply to just artifacts, I know there are other cards out there like this but these are the two cards that came into play for me today that made me scratch my head a bit. I'm still learning about this game but here it is; Implement of Combustion and Consulate Turret. Do these cards get summoning sickness? Can I tap Consulate Turret right away to gain the energy counter? Can I play a mountain and sacrifice Implement of Combustion as soon as I play it? When I played them today, I treated them as if they had summoning sickness and waited a turn. Did I play this right or wrong? Thanks
Also, in the case of implement of combustion, even if it became a creature, summoning sickness does not stop you from using its ability. Summoning sickness only stops attacking and abilities that have a T symbol. Other abilities of creatures can still be activated on the first turn. For example, you can sacrifice a creature to Viscera Seer the turn you play it, because the ability doesn't have anything to do with tapping.

To expand on the answers already given for a little more clarity:
All permanents get "summoning sickness" which would prevent them from using any ability that requires a T symbol as part of the cost. BUT only creatures are actually affected by their summoning sickness (all other permanents still have their summoning sickness, they just aren't affected by it).
What this means is that if a non-creature permanent enters the battlefield, it can use its ability that requires TUNLESS they (later that turn) become creatures, which would then cause them to then become affected by the summoning sickness they still had.
