Hey everybody, so last night I was playing a really fun close match against a buddy and I played a Lathnu Hellion. At my end step I payed the 2 energy counters to keep him for my next turn to hopefully finish him off. On my friend's turn, he played a sorcery that enabled him to take control of my Hellion and use him against me. He then determined that since it was his end step and he had to energy to pay for Lathnu Hellion that the Hellion would now be sacrificed into my graveyard. I let him play it because I just thought it was such a cool move BUT both of us are curious to know if that's actually how that would resolve. True or False anybody? Thanks
Here, "your end step" refers to the end step of the player who controls Lathnu Hellion, no matter who owns that creature (C.R. 109.5). When Lathnu Hellion's last ability resolves, its controller may pay EE, and sacrifices Lathnu Hellion if he or she doesn't (C.R. 117.12a), whether he or she has EE or not (see also C.R. 603.5). For clarity: Normally, a player can't cast a sorcery during his or her end step, but rather only during his or her main phase while the stack is empty (C.R. 116.1a).
Yes, that's how it works. Act of Treason and similar effects wear off at the end of the turn, which occurs after the beginning of the end step in which Lathnu Hellion triggers. So a player who has temporarily taken control of the hellion has the option to either pay two energy to keep it alive (and give it back) or can sacrifice it.
Lathnu Hellion's ability triggers for your opponent at the end of his turn. He may pay EE, and if he does not, the Hellion is sacrificed. Since you own the card, it goes into your graveyard.
I'm unsure which part you were actually asking about.

"You" here means "the controller of Lathnu Hellion". So as your opponent's end step begins, the Hellion's ability triggers because he controls it, and he may choose not to pay the energy (even if he had energy, he is not forced to spend it).
Spells such as Act of Treason (or Wrangle, Hijack, whatever he used) give control of the creature "until end of turn". This controls ends after the beginning of the End Step, so the Hellion is still under his control at that point.
EDIT (May 12): Corrected rule citation.
