I have a couple of questions to do with abundance and it's interactions with cards that grant draw effects.
Firstly, If I have abundance in play and I cast brainstorm, and then I choose to trigger abundance instead of drawing 3 cards, does the second ability of brainstorm trigger (put two cards from your hand on top of your library in any order), or does it not trigger because I didn't actually draw 3 cards?
Secondly, if I have abundance in play and I cast impulse, can abundance be triggered or not? (Does impulse actually cause me to 'draw' cards?)
Neither Abundance nor Brainstorm have anything to do with triggers. The enchantment has a static ability that creates a replacement effect, while Brainstorm simply has more than one instruction in its spell effect.
Abundance replaces drawing cards with the choice to draw or to replace that draw. So you can replace all three draws of Brainstorm with that (the choice is made for each draw individually). Regardless of the choice you make, Brainstorm has you put two cards from your hand on top of your library afterwards. This is totally independent of the draws ot the replacement theeof. It would demand that even if yo couldn't draw any cards in the first place (Maralen of the Mornsong).
While the action of drawing a card means to take the top card of your library and put it in your hand, the reverse is not true. You can do the same thing, but if it isn't designated as a draw, you are not drawing a card. Only the word "draw" indicates drawing cards. So no, Impulse doesn't interact with Abundance at all, there is no draw to replace.
