Under C.R. 400.1, "[t]here are normally seven zones", none of which is called the ante zone. And under C.R. 407.3, only cards with the text "Remove [this card] from your deck before playing if you're not playing for ante" can add cards to the ante zone.
Yes the ante zone still exists, even though there is no way to move a card there in sanctioned tournaments. Now if a player wishes to prank judges like this, most of the time everyone just gets a chuckle out of it and no problem (especially at regular REL events like FNMs where adding a bit of fun isn't unheard of). I wouldn't recommend this at competitive tournaments, it's possible everyone will just get a chuckle out of it, but the judge could also penalize the player if they wish for putting a card into the wrong zone.

400.1 also acknowledges that "Some older cards also use the ante zone." So does a zone not exist if no cards "use" it? That's kind of weird. It also kind of suggests that if there are no cards in a format that "use" the command zone (or exile), then that zone does not exist.

Unfortunately, the comprehensive rules don't sufficiently clarify whether a zone exists in a particular game even if nothing can put cards there.
I know that no ante cards are legal in any sanctioned format.
But does the ante zone still exist? and cards just have no way to get there
I have heard about players pranking judges by calling them over and saying that they have a card in the ante zone, but have no idea how it got there
what happens in the above scenario?
Thanks!
In the above senario the judge will ask both players how it happened. If they do not know the judge will disqualify them for lying to the judge, possibly removing them from the venue.

I have dyslexia, no I am not going to spell check for you, yes you have to live with the horrors of it.

Believe it or not, most Judges have a sense of humor. I seriously doubt this situation would ever lead to a DQ.
To take a strict interpretation of the IPG, the "lying to a tournament official" is used as an example of Unsporting Conduct - Cheating, but one of the basic criteria for a Cheating infraction is that the player must be attempting to gain an advantage. There's no conceivable advantage to be gained from claiming that a card is in the ante zone unless the person making the claim is trying to obscure the true game state by refusing to say what zone the card is really supposed to be in.
The worst you're likely to get from calling a judge on yourself and saying that you have a card in the ante zone is Unsporting Conduct - Minor for wasting the judge's time.
