Let's say I have 2 Thing in The Ice and both of them are at 1 ice counter. If I cast a sorcery causing Thing in The Ice to lose a counter resulting in it flipping, would both of the cards flip or would one flip and return the other one to my hand?

Awoken Horror only causes non-horror cards to return to your hand, so both would remain on the field, and both would transform.

Remember that Thing in The Ice is still a Horror.

So thing in the ice is classified as horror even though it's not transformed?

Yes, it says so right on the type line: "Creature -- Horror".

After transforming, Awoken Horror is both a Horror and a Kraken: "Creature -- Kraken Horror".
