I looked in the gatherer rulings on both cards first buy did not find an answer to my questions and being new to the blue splash in death and taxes with a few Comp REL tournaments approaching I would like to get a few judge rulings beforehand.
First does ephara, god of the polis need to see the creature enter the Battlefield in order for it trigger on next upkeep? I am inclined due to is wording to believe it does not need to see the creature in order for it top trigger but would like to make sure for sequencing.
Second if I use spell queller on a card my opponent cast from graveyard with flash back, will the card be cast when spell queller leaves the battlefield? I am inclined to think it will not be cast since it is already exiled upon casting due to flashback much as it does not return to hand when remanded but just want to be 100% sure so that I do not make assumptions and be wrong in aforementioned comp REL events. Thank you in advance for your time.
1. No. For Ephara's last ability to trigger, Ephara need not have been on the battlefield when the creature in question entered last turn (otherwise the ability would have been worded "... if you had another creature enter the battlefield under your control last turn while Ephara was on the battlefield ..."); here, the condition refers completely to past events ("had"), so the condition remains true whether or not Ephara was on the battlefield when that event happened (review C.R. 603.4).
2. You are incorrect; when Spell Queller leaves the battlefield in this scenario, that card's owner may cast it from exile. Flashback's replacement effect works only if the spell with it would go from the stack to anywhere else than exile (C.R. 702.34a). Since the spell in question is sent directly to exile, flashback doesn't apply here.
EDIT (after comment 3 was posted): To be clear, I am not a judge, but that doesn't make my answers less correct.
EDIT (May 15, 2022): Update rule numbering.
@peter:I appreciate the timely responce. And am glad I asked the questions especially on spell queller since my assumption would have been incorrect. Thank you very much.
