My opponent has a planeswalker in play, no creatures, and a hissing quagmire that is not currently activated. I cast to the slaughter without delirium and in response they activate their manland. Do I have the opportunity to kill their active manland so that they will be forced to sacrifice their planeswalker? Would the answer be any different with me using liliana of the veil and my opponent fetching a dryad arbor or casting a creature with flash?

Your opponent has 2 options in this scenario. They can either a sac the planeswalker or b activate their manland turning it into a creature and sacrificing it. To the slaughter isn't unique in its wording in forcing an opponent to sacrifice something. The issue with this card although it is a great removal spell is that the player that's targeted gets to choose what to get rid of. Now if you have extra mana open and have something to destroy target creature as well and you can play it you can cast it targeting their manland killing it and then yes it would force them to sac their planeswalker.
