Let us say we have an aetherflux resivior and a harness the storm out on the field. then you play a take inventory wth one in your graveyard. How would the stack resolve for life gain and how many cards would you draw?
Okay this depends on how you stack the triggers. When you cast take inventory you have two triggers that need to be put on the stack.
If you put the Aetherflux Reservoir on the stack first then Harness will resolve first and you can then cast the card in your graveyard, if you do it will trigger the Aetherflux again. At this time you've cast two spells so when both Aeterflux's triggers resolve you'll gain a total of 4 life.
If on the other hand you put the Harness trigger on the stack first then the Aetherflux trigger will resolve first. At this point you've only cast one spell so you'd only gain 1 life. After that the Harness trigger will resolve and if you choose to cast the card from your graveyard it will trigger the Aetherflux trigger again, this time when it resolves you'll gain 2 life since you've cast two spells this turn. So in this case you'd gain a total of 3 life.
Take note that Aetherflux Reservoir's triggered ability counts the number of spells cast that turn when it resolves, not when it's put on the stack which is why the first scenario works out the way it does.
Edit - Sorry I didn't notice the last part of the question, the number of cards you draw. If you cast both you'd draw a total of 3 cards. This will be true no matter how you stack the triggers, provided you choose to cast the card from your graveyard. At the time the first Take Inventory resolves you will have no Take Inventory cards in your graveyard so you'd only draw 1 card. When the second resolves the first will be in the graveyard so you'd draw 2, for a total of 3.
Nice. One of my friends last week recommended harness the storm and that threw me for a loop and just confused me. This helps a bunch though! Have to remember aetherflux trigger first. Storm second. Thanks a ton.
