I want to verify that the following is a legal line of play, and explore the details of interactions. Not that it really matters, but the matchup is Death and Taxes vs Elves in Legacy.
The Elves player declares that the morph is blocking the Crusader. (1) I want to confirm this is a legal block.
The Elves player pays G to turn Rangers face up. (2) I want to confirm that at this point, Rangers is still blocking Crusader. In other words, turning Rangers face up doesn't remove it from combat, e.g. due to Crusader's protection.
Retaining priority, the Elves player uses Symbiote's activated ability to return Rangers to their hand. (3) I want to confirm that the Crusader is still considered blocked.
In the combat damage step, the blocked Mirran Crusader has no creatures blocking it, so it assigns no damage. (4) I want to confirm that the Jitte gets no charge counters.
Hopefully the answers to the above four questions are simply "yes" four times. Thanks!
I understand that the Crusader is considered a blocked attacker after the Rangers is turned face up. I want to confirm that the Rangers is also still in combat, i.e. the Elves player would need to actually use something like the Symbiote's ability to prevent the Jitte from getting counters. Thanks!
Death and Taxes player has an attacking Mirran Crusader equipped with Umezawa's Jitte. Defending Elves player has a morphed (2/2 colorless) Birchlore Rangers and Wirewood Symbiote. It's the declare blockers step (CR 509.1).
