Just a question
If I have a underworld connections, do I lose the primary ability on the land? Does it still tap for land, or does it only have the enchanted ability attached to it, to "tap, pay one life, draw a card"
Also, with a card such as drowner of hope which creates scion tokens with a base ability to "sacrifice add 1 mana", can I stack the ability with the drowner to get mana and tap a creature? Or I have to make a choice between sacrificing for the mana or to tap a creature as I sacrifice the scion
For the first question, Underworld Connections just adds the ability to whatever land you enchant with it - so you can either tap it for mana or tap it (and pay a life) to draw a card.
For the second one, no. Both abilities (Tap a creature, Add {C} to your mana pool) have a cost (Sacrifice the token) that has to be paid. If you have a magazine and a book in front of you, both cost $5 and you have a single $5 bill, could you buy both?
Ok. That's what I thought. I was just trying to see if I could cheat lol
Now on creatures with payable duel abilities ie harbinger of the hunt where I pay to deal damage, is there a limit to how many times I can use it per turn (other than mana limitations)
I'm making a dragon deck, and creatures such a shivan dragon or dragon hatchling that cost 1 mountain to gain +1/0, I can use that ability repeatedly? And can I use my abilities on other players turns, aslong as the creature isn't tapped?

You are able to activate an ability as many times as you are able to pay the costs. You can use them on other plays turns even if the creature is tapped as long as being tapped isn't a requirement of the ability. Shivan Dragon for example only requires R mana where as Birds of Paradise requires itself to be tapped to activate.
Does an ability have the same speed as an instant?
If I play bane of Bala ged and attack, making my opponent sacrifice and exile 2 permanents, can I use the ability from drowner of hope during my attack phase, to make them tap their 3rd creature, making bane attack the player directly?
Or if they cast an instant to destroy any creature with 3 power or less, could I use the ability on my dragon hatchling 4 times, nullifying the instant?
There are no 'speeds' in magic. Certain spells or abilities have limitations when they can be played either in the rules(like a sorcery Larger Than Life) or on the cards themselves(Disrupting Scepter, Cauldron Dance). None of the cards you mentioned have such a limitation so they can be activated at any time you have priority. For Bane the latest you can tap the creature to get through is the Declare Attack step, if you wait till they declare blockers then taping them does nothing. If they use something like Swat on your Dragon Hatchling then you can use its ability in response to increase its power above 2 causing the spell to have an illegal target and be countered by the rules.

There is no speed in Magic. Just an order for how objects on the stack resolve, which is from top to bottom. So whatever is closer to the top of the stack will resolve before whaever is farther down. When yo respond to something with a spell or ability, you put that spell/ability on top of the stack. so naturally, it will resolve before whatever you responded to. You can also wait for something to resolve and then "respond", so that whatever you're trying to do will occur after that something.
In your example, the trigger from Bane of Bala Ged will be put on the stack right after attackers have been declared. Players can respond to that trigger. If no one does, it resolves, since it is the top object on the stack. But even if the stack is empty now, the step doesn't end yet. for that, all player must pass priority in succession while the stack is empty. So everyone get at least one more chance to act during the declare attacker step. This is when you can sacrifice an Eldrazi Scio to tap the last remaining creature your opponent controls. (Do note, though, that the defending player chooses which permanents to exile, and his lands and all other objects he controls on the battlefield are viable choices for that. so he likely doesn't have to exile his two creatures.)
In your second scenario, yes, you can activate the firebreathing ability in response to the kill spell to make the creature stronger and thus an illegal target. You can do that one at a time, letting one ability resolve before activating it again. Or you can activate it four times in a row if you want. The spell will then "fizzle", becasue in either case, by the time it would get to resolve, its only target is illegal.
