I have a Valor in Akros enchantment in play, and a couple of creatures with no counters on them. I then play Patron of the Valiant. How many +1/+1 counters end up on the creatures?
None. Valor in Akros doesn't put any counters on creatures. They just get a temporary static "buff" of +1/+1 until end of turn. Cards don't place counters on other cards or permanents unless it uses the word "counter". And, in almost all cases (except one that I can think of), counters are never temporary. So, if it says "until end of turn" it is probably not granting counters (and, again, it would have the word "Counter" if it was).
If, however, you had Cathars' Crusade instead of Valor of Akros, you then have two triggers trying to go on the stack at the same time. Since you control both triggers, you can place them on the stack in any order you want. If you put the Crusade's trigger on first, it will resolve after Patron's so Patron won't see any counters on the creatures. If you put the Crusade's trigger on the stack last (so it resolves first) your creatures would then have a +1/+1 counter on them and then Patron's trigger would see that counter to place another counter on every creature (including the Patron itself).
It's not the worst idea, but just make sure to keep them separate. Like I always have counters on the card itself, but temporary effects I'll keep track of under or to the side of the card if there are a lot of them.
