Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum but come here a lot for information. We mainly just play casual decks. So my question is about Fruit of the First Tree and a big rot shambler . My opponent has Fruit of the first tree on his 11 rot shambler and I kill it during combat, will he gain 11 life and draw 11 cards or will he gain 1 and draw 1? When looking at the rules, counters cease to exist when the object moves zones, like going to the graveyard in this case, but when you read the ruling for fruit of the first tree, it states "11/24/2014: Use the creature’s toughness when it left the battlefield to determine the value of X. If that number is 0 or less, you won’t gain life or draw cards. (You won’t lose life or discard cards either.)". So how would this play out? Does fruit of the first tree see rot shambler with all his counters when he left the battlefield or does it see a 1/1 body in the graveyard?
The game sees that it was an 11/11 the last time it was on the battlefield and you will gain 11 life and draw 11 cards
