Would Curse of the Swine be able to be played if Void winnower is on the battlefield? For example, could I tap an odd amount, like x=1 and two blue, would I be able to cast it because the end result is odd? Or, is the end result even because there are two blue in the cost, making me unable to cast it. Thank you for your help.
A spell with an X in the mana cost has a converted mana cost of the value of that variable plus whatever else the mana cost contains. So for XUU, the CMC is X+2. If you choose an odd value for X, then the CMC of Curse of the Swine is also odd, and Void Winnower doesn't interfere.
Note, that the amount of mana you pay (if any) doesn't determine the mana cost and CMC. It's the other way around, the value you choose for X when you cast the spell will determine the mana cost and CMC. Cost increases/reductions and additional costs also don't affect the mana cost and CMC, even though you'll end up paying more/less mana. Likewise, alternative costs don't change the mana cost and CMC.
