We came across an interesting rule situations with my friends and I'd like you guys's opinion on it.
My friend Living Wished for a creature that he took from his binder and then that creature got targeted with Proteus Staff. We all had to collectively stop and think for this. My friend is the owner of the card he Wished for so Proteus Staff should put it on the bottom of his library but then it has no sleeve so it would be easily recognizable from the other cards. What would be the correct course of action ?
Of course this is all kitchen-table interaction but the oracle text for the Wish does mention ''In an unsanctioned event, you may choose any card from your collection.''

Some kind of witty comment should be here.
I'm sure you can think of something by yourself.
If he is playing Living Wish in a deck with sleeves, he should be carrying sleeves in case it ever goes to a hidden zone (which can very probably happen).
The answer is, he's playing Living Wish and he should be prepared/know better.
EDIT: If you're really desperate, I would recommend unsleeving a card in a non-hidden zone to sleeve the newly-hidden card.
The comprehensive rules mention the use of card sleeves only in the context of double-faced cards and meld cards (namely, as one option to make those cards indistinguishable from other face-down cards [C.R. 712.3, 713.9]), and not in the general case where cards outside the game are involved. Therefore, the comprehensive rules largely don't prescribe a "correct course of action" in this scenario.
EDIT (Sep. 21, 2021): Some rules were renumbered in the meantime.

Although an unsleeved card in a deck of sleeved cards would constitute a marked card in a tournament setting.

As an unsanctioned game game, I would either
1: Sleeve the card
or
2: play as is
If you play as is, there is no disadvantage because 1: Everyone can see when he would get the creature, and they know when to prepare for it
If you sleeve the card, just remember to remove it from the deck at the end of the game
I don't know the actual ruling (I have never seen these cards before/ unfamiliar with this)
I hold the job of resurrecting dead threads.
Formerly presumed dead, but also formerly presumed alive.
