ok so i just ran a game with a blue/white counter-control-angel deck against a multicolor eldrazi deck. The opponent had three creatures out two had copies of fowl play on them the other had an arrest on it. Before my opponent started his turn he opted to sacrifice his three creatures. No ability was fired off and no spells were played to do so, is this a legal move?
With the caveat that since you are using unglued cards where the normal rules don't always apply.
No it is not a legal move, you are only allowed to sacrifice something when explicited called to either to activate an ability/cast a spell or when the a spell/ability resolving tells you to.

thank you. I have been playing for close to 13 years and NEVER not once seen that allowed in ANY format of the rules.
In response to the thing about unglued, I'm aware of this though we tend to run home games more then anything. Nothing tournament level, though we do try to play by the books weather or not the unhinged or unglued cards are used.
