Would this card put a +1/+1 counter on a creature coming in even if the creature wouldn't normally get one?
As an example I cast Azami, Lady of Scrolls while I had Sage of Fablesalready in play. Would Azami get a +1/+1 counter? Thanks everyone!
Yes, any wizard creature entering the battlefield under your control will enter with the Sage's +1/+1 counter in addition to any amount of counters it would normally enter with (which may well be zero counters).
From Sage of Fables's ruling: 4/1/2008 If a Wizard would normally enter the battlefield with a certain number of +1/+1 counters on it, it enters the battlefield with that many +1/+1 counters plus one on it instead. If a Wizard would normally enter the battlefield with no +1/+1 counters on it, it enters the battlefield with one +1/+1 counter on it instead.
Yes. "Additional" is just part of the wording to make it clearer, that entering with counters already will still net an additional counter. But simple math tells you already, that none plus one additional counter equals one counter.
