Hi. During a playtest today, I have a strangleroot geist with a +1/+1 counter in play, then casted an Avatar of the Resolute. Opponent has a Torpor Orb in play. Would the avatar have a +1/+1 counter on it when it etb?
This led to a small debate between me and the friend I'm playtesting with.
Thanks for the answer.
EDIT: Sorry for wrong spelling of Avatar of the Resolute on thread title.
Yes, it would. Torpor Orb only stops triggered abilities - those are easily marked by the fact that they start with the words "at", "when", or "whenever". Avatar of the Resolute doesn't have any triggered abilities, it has a replacement effect that modifies how it enters the battlefield, so Torpor Orb doesn't do anything against it.

Oh, so the orb only stops triggered abilities. Thanks so much for the clarification. :>
