Normally a player can concede the match voluntarily at any time. How would the judges handle the situation where both players declare intent to concede at the beginning of a match at an event where it matters who would win?
It might sound like a ridiculous scenario, but I actually have thought of a circumstance where this could conceivably happen. At the last PTQ I went to, the first place prize was, as usual, admission to the Pro Tour. There is no other prize for first place. 2nd place was something like 3 boxes of booster packs. If I had gotten to the finals, I would probably have preferred the 2nd place prize rather than the invitation to Pro-Tour, since the odds of winning Pro-Tour are extremely small, I would not have even been certain I could get time off from work to go, and even though they cover air fare to get there the other costs associated with going would be more than I could handle. So I would likely have conceded the match if I had gotten to the final round. If by some slim chance my opponent in the finals had the same mindset, this could be a problem. What would happen in this case?
I have the same question, but I come to it from a different direction: say someone has cast Shaharazad or Enter the Dungeon and, for some reason, both players want to lose the subgame. Who wins at losing?
