okay so me and my buddy were playing a game. i had Crown of empires. I did not have the other two artifacts out yet that help this card. So dont even worry about the last ability of the artifact. So when i paid the mana to tap target creature, we asked ourselves, Does the creature untap after my turn? There is no duration specified on the card and it does not say "until end of turn" BUT it also does not say "for as long as crown of empires is on the battle field" So manily my question is. After i tapped his creature and it is his turn, does his creature untap? Tried looking it up online that night but there were so many different answers. so just in a friendly game i decided to have his creatures untap his turn because i thought maybe thats how it worked.
You were right. If there is nothing else stated on the card, the creature just taps until its controllers next untap step when everything normally untaps.
W may only be paid with white mana. U may only be paid with blue mana. B may only be paid with black mana. R may only be paid with red mana. G may only be paid with green mana. C may only be paid with colorless mana. 1 may be paid with white, blue, black, red, green, or clolorless mana.
You're overthinking this... Tapped permanents get untapped at their controller's untap step. It doesn't matter if they were tapped to attack, to activate an ability or by an effect like the Crown's. The effect doesn't have a duration because it is one-shot. You just tap the creature if it's untapped then, and nothing prevents it from untapping normally later.
