Hey, I understand how with multiple blockers I assign damage and that I have to deal lethal to the blockers. But what happens when my creature has double strike?
Ex:
My Fabled Hero is a 5/5. I attack with it and my opponent blocks with a 1/1 Cat Soldier, a Rakdos, Lord of Riots, and a 3/3 Centaur token.
My understanding is that if I assign 2 damage to to Centaur, and then the final 3 to Rakdos, I will kill those two creatures and lose my Hero. Am I correct or not?
Double strike doesn't double the damage a creature deals. It makes then assign and deal damage in both combat damage steps (there are two each combat, one for first strike and one for everything else).
In this simple case, you'll be able to kill every creature. Here's one way to do it (there are multiple): In the first damage step, deal 5 damage to Rakdos. In the second step, deal 1 to Rakdos, 3 to the centaur, and 1 to the cat soldier.
And yes, your creature will not survive that block, no matter what you do with damage assignment.
Keep in mind when a creature is blocked by multiple creatures, it only needs to assign lethal damage to a creature before moving on and assigning damage to another creature. It actually wouldn't matter at all how you ordered the damage. For example.
First strike step- 1 damage to the 1/1, 3 to the 3/3, and 1 more to the 6/6.
Normal strike step- 5 damage to the 6/6, and your 5/5 takes 6 damage.
Plus what was stated above, there isn't a way you can order the damage to not kill everything. Because you will have a total of ten damage to give 5 in each step, and the blockers have a total of 10 toughness to lose.

Whats the big deal about black lotus you ask? Well you see, there is no big deal about it. It IS the big deal.

Actually, there is. You're allowed to assign more than lethal damage to a blocker. He could hit Rakdos for the full 10 if he wanted to.
I didn't say there wasn't a way to not kill everything. You can hit Rakdos with the full 10, leaving the other two alive. There are some rare cases in which that may be what you want to do, but most likely not always.
What i said was there wasn't a way to order the blockers and not kill them all (Assuming you only deal lethal damage to each of them, and no more.) In that case, no matter the order, everyone involved will die.
But there is a way to not kill them all, if you order them correctly, and actively choose not to kill them all. It's easier to kill them all than it is to not kill them all.

When asking for if something was stolen on Kamigawa:
Have some irony:
