which coreset do you prefer and why? or do you dislike them and why?
personally i am favouring the m14 (or m15) one.
because it overall has alot of playable cards that are not complete trash like that roach that asks 6 mana for +3+3 selfboost (which is probably in m14 lol)
but m13 looks pretty cool too...
i am less fan of the older coresets because... they are kind of expensive
I prefer the flavor text of Ladies' Knight - "I said 'Put him in a core set, not a corset!'"
Honestly, I prefer core sets with original cards. Reprints are great, but unless it has new cards, it's unlikely to have much I need. It was so nice when they quit being just reprint sets. Don't really have a single favorite, though.
Core sets, in my opinion, fill an important role in gmaes that have rotating formats. Other TCGs like Pokemon don´t have core sets and a lot of the staple cards are often found in many diffrent sets. In MTG, a lof of the generic, but generally useful cards were found in core sets, examples: 8Th edition had Unsommon for U, Shock for R, Giant Growth for G, Dark Banishing for B, and Pacifism for W. Core sets have generally somewhat powerful, but simple cards that are functional and help new players understand the fundamentals of MTG. I personaly started MTG when 8th edition was relevant, and a lot of cards from the first deck I had were from core sets(7th, 8th, and a few older ones). Although expansions where more interesting to me and my playgroup, the core sets had interesting cards.
I have a group of casual MTG friends whom we sometimes draft. They usually pick core sets, so I´ve gotten used to drafting them and having fun doing so. The only core sets I´ve drafted are M12, M13 and M15 since I was away from the country during others. We haven´t drafted with this playgroup in a while, origins would have been a very sweet core set to draft, but I couldn´t do so.
My favorite core sets are probably 7th and 8th editions since that is the ones that I have the most cards of in my collection. I don´t really buy modern core sets, or much modern MTG product outside of a few singles and draft chaff. I mostly stick to preconstructed theme decks, and in this regard most core sets don´t have as interesting or deep decks as expansions.
Conclusion: Core sets are necessary, they fill a backbone, they are a stepping stone for new players. They have easy to figure out, but sometimes interesting draft formats, but in general are unexciting compared to expansions. The intro packs/theme decks/ preconstructed decks in particular are unexciting and generic compared to the expansion counterparts.

I like fun, powerful sets (Zendikar block, Innistrad and Khans, for example), to give you some context there.

It had great cards. Both powerful and worthy of being in a core set.
Plus the box looked really nice.
M13 was pretty neat too.
