Hello Magic Community, recent lurker within the community here. Apologies if this is not in the right forum location, but I thought that it had opinion built behind the post. I was introduced to MTG a few months ago, and have really enjoyed getting to know some of the ins-and-outs of the game with a few buddies of mine.
Anyway, the reason for my post today is to ask about a secret Santa gift exchange within the MTG Salvation community and what some thoughts might be on that? I've actually done something like this within the reddit community the previous two years, and thought it might be fun to bring it to this community as well. I understand that it's only September, but when I did this before, I tried to get everything done before Black Friday.
Some things that I've done before are set price limits (I find that $15 works well with most people's budget and if a gift is not reciprocated, then at least it's only $15).
$15 Gift Ideas could include but are not limited to: Booster Packs, Dice, Play Mats, Deck Boxes, Planeswalker Decks, Cool Card Sleeves, Specific Cards (might be iffy, but I think I could make it work), maybe some Apparel options like shirts or socks, etc. You could always spend more if you wanted, but it may not be reciprocated (but, 'tis the season).
That's all I can think of at this point, but I may edit later if something else comes to mind. I have had a lot of success with this before, so maybe/hopefully we can make it happen here.
Cheers, GGRadio
We've been doing something a bit similar here and this last Holiday season was our 10th year! It's been generally posted under Community Discussion.
How we usually do it is we all send altered cards (even if they're just sharpie doodles) to a Staff Member who has volunteered on the forums, then they send those out randomly. Check out the thread below to see how it usually goes
