I'm going to be obtaining 95% of my cards by trading or buying singles, but it's still fun to crack a pack now and then. But I do not want to completely waste my money so in your opinion which booster pack/s do you think offer the greatest value for the price? (Obviously this will be impacted by what format you play)
Thank you, look forward to hearing your opinions.

I'd say Khans right now. Or Dragons, maybe, for the chase mythics. BFZ and OGW is a bust - they MIGHT have the Expedition lands in, but that's very long odds indeed.
I wish Modern Masters was cheaper, so many good cards, but also a ton of worthless bulk rares that you are far more likely to open. Doesn't Khans rotate out when Shadows gets released? If so, would that cause the value to plummet from Khans?

Bfz is great for $$ and the cards will problably go up in prise, but I feel OGW is Ok too. Anything from khans is going to plummet so don't get it. Also fallen empires is a "great" set to get...
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Modern Masters (first edition), then Modern Masters 2, then Urza's Saga, then Future Sight, then Alliances/Tempest, then Innistrad/Rise of the Eldrazi probably. I assume you mean which set has the highest ratio of potential money card value to booster pack price.
I do this evalutation every year at Christmas time for my wife. I like to get her some special packs to open, but I don't want to pay out the ass for garbage cards

Exactly. I want to have some fun with a small chance of reward but without utterly wasting my money for no reason.

In Modern legal packs? Innistrad, Lorwyn or Rise of the Eldrazi.
All-time, with only reasonably affordable packs: Alliances, Mercadian Masques, or Tempest
