The horror! MaRo, drunk with power, has hit the panic button on the hilt of his jeweled scepter! All forms of Magic gameplay are forever banned, except for the one you decide gets to stay. Any attempt to get people to play other formats than the one you select will be met with laughter and public mockery. "Haha! You mean we're supposed to draft these packs? That will never catch on!" Block constructed is out of the question completely because, I mean, come on.
So, which format gets to stay?
Standard: Wizards continues to provide sanctioned support for Standard, but all cards become completely useless from the time they rotate out of Standard to the time they are (maybe) reprinted. Eternal formats cease to exist completely. Staples such as dual-lands and the power nine plummet in value since the reserved list prevents them from ever being in Standard ever again.
Modern: Standard no longer exists as a format. All Legacy-exclusive cards become useless and reserved list staples crash in value. The "no wins before Turn 4" rule and occasional changes to the ban list still happen. Modern staples skyrocket in value as the format floods with new players, but prices may slowly come down over the next several years as Wizards scrambles to reprint staples while adding new cards to the pool.
Legacy/Vintage: All Legacy cards are still legal for play. The reserved list still stands, and the format is forever dominated by those who possess dual-lands (which have drastically increased in price with the new surge of Legacy players). Players who cannot afford to buy into the reserved list will almost never be able to play at a highly competitive level, but can still do well at small local tournaments if nobody else playing owns reserved list staples. Burn, manaless dredge, and other deck archetypes which do not use dual-lands flood the meta.
Limited: Not sure why you'd pick this one. Cards are printed as usual, but only the latest block can be drafted. Once cards are opened out of packs, they can be "repacked" or placed in cubes. "Official" cubes, like the MTGO cube or Holiday cube can be played in sanctioned events alongside whatever the latest draft/sealed block is.
EDH/Commander: If you choose this one, competitive Magic ceases to exist entirely. A hole in time alters the universe in such a way that the only way in which anybody thinks about playing Magic is in the context of casual multiplayer games with 100 card singleton decks led by a commander. Wizards continues to print cards, but the secondary market is dominated solely by EDH demand and no Pro Tour/Grand Prix tournaments are ever held again. Phelddagrif still pisses everyone off.
The issue is if, for example, legacy was the only supported format, they'd[card] have to make super powerful cards that would be relevant to it, including lands. So I choose legacy.
Without Standard, they'd never be able to sell packs. And magic wouldn't exist if they couldn't sell packs.
Limited can't exist if they don't sell packs either. Limited is their money maker, so that one stays. EDH is hugely popular too, but being a casual format already sort of makes me think it shouldn't even be on the list.
According to Wotc Standard is their #1 format, with Modern just recently sliding into #2 and limited close behind at #3. The game ends if Wotc has no way to sell packs so Standard and limited must stay if we want new cards.
In my opinion those voting Legacy/Vintage are stuck in a time that Wotc has passed by and will never be truly happy with the game again.

Not at all, while I'm a bit worn on standard at the moment, it's still a format I enjoy. I voted Legacy simply because it would be interesting to see all the fringe decks that would pop up. As much as people like to believe they are, Forces, Duals, etc aren't 100% required to play and be competitive in Legacy(not that they hurt, mind you), and as a Legacy player(and as someone still learning the format and it's nuances), the rogue decks are super fun to play against.
Mainly though, I voted Legacy because of the larger card pool
Voted Legacy because it's my favourite format by a country mile, but Standard would be the one to survive if this were to happen in real life.

Legacy/Vintage would stay. People naturally want to play with all the cards available to them.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
Can't in good conscience vote for legacy/vintage while keeping the reserved list. EDH is a good second choice, though.

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
Its unfair to put limited in this discussion when its a completely separate format from everything else. Like, in order for the game to work at all, limited will have to be supported because when new players start they necessary have an, erm, limited, set of cards to work with, so if it works for newbies, it will work for limited too (in general).
For constructed there needs to be an eternal format. Magic I believe could continue to exist just fine with legacy + limited. Limited sells the packs and legacy keeps 'em coming back for more. Obviously I'm not in favor of abandoning standard... I'm just answering the question

Because of that, I voted for modern.
EDH is Commander with terminology updates so I don't think Wizards could stop it if they tried.
Art is life itself.
