Sometimes the artist's use of mountains in the background makes the subject appear disproportional to scale. I'm not sure if it's intentional butYuki-Onna and Remand look really huge.
I find this one quite difficult since the art seems to take different directions. I'll go for Ghost-lit Stalker. The overall execution is very well done, and there's that eerie perspective of an abandoned mountainside where those silent ogres and their skeletal birds wander at night.
HM To Yomiji, Who Bars The Way. I understand he denies death to important characters, but this could have been expressed a bit more clearly in the art. HM also to Naya Panorama. A Plain, a Mountain and a Forest.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
Okay, so the website has butchered links to MagicCards.info.
I'm sorry but if this isn't fixed this thread will have to shut down until such time as external links are allowed to function again.
The only work around I have for this week is if you copy and paste the text below into a new tab, and then manually remove the space after http:
Sorry, but if I didn't put the space in the link doesn't display properly and doesn't work either.
I have no idea why these links are referring back to this thread when the text above (without spaces) is what I have in the URL and what still displays when I try to edit the posts to fix the link.
If you've just joined us here's a partial (but not very good) solution; using the inbuilt card catalogue: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/cards?filter-artist=Hideaki Takamura
Sadly the output display leaves a lot to be desired, cards appear multiple times, there is lots of wasted spaces requiring more scrolling than is necessary, the cards images aren't especially large, and promo cards are not shown.
712.5b The controller of another player can't make choices or decisions for that player that aren't called for by the rules or by any objects. The controller also can't make any choices or decisions for the player that would be called for by the tournament rules.
Example: The player who's being controlled still chooses whether he or she leaves to visit the restroom, trades a card to someone else, agrees to an intentional draw, or calls a judge about an error or infraction.
...and that brings this thread to close for the time being. With the move to the new site my account is for some reason unable to post links that work nor add image attachments to posts. This means that I can't post a link to the MagicCards.info collection of an artist's cards, nor can I feature the winning card in my posts. So I'm going to leave this until such time as my account issues are addressed and solved. Don't hold your breath.
Thanks to everyone who voted, I really had a lot of fun with this thread and it's a shame it has to end suddenly like this - there were so many more artists to cover, not to mention revisiting old votes.
Too many cards in Magic's history are forgotten because of their constructed unplayability. Many of those cards have awesome art that many people will never get a chance to see. I feel that its quite unfortunate for the artists who never get featured in chase rares or staples. After stumbling onto this thread, I really started to appreciate both the art and the artists whom create the fantasy behind MtG. I've never really read the MtG novels or the flavor column on the mothership, but the card art and flavor text alone has been enough for me to recreate the story of Magic. Hopefully, the new site will have tools which will support this type of thread in another way.
Thanks for keeping this thread up all this time.

How about this?
HM's to Yuki-Onna and Pyromancer's Swath.
Hideaki Takamura is an amazing artist, I wish he did more paintings for Magic.
This week's winner is Sowing Salt
