My friend and I were attempting to find the worst legendary creature in the history of the game and rather than pour through mountains of data we thought we should enlist you fellow forums dwellers to assist us in this daunting task. We know there are bad legends, as we've seen many in our quest. But what is the WORST legend?
Is this a "which is the least playable legend" thread, or a "which is the least flavorful legend" thread? They're two very different things. For example, I'd say the least playable legend is Mannichi, the Fevered Dream. However, I'd also say that the least flavorful BY FAR (and, since it's not exactly stellar playability-wise, the worst in my book) is Karona, False God. Seriously, you've got a demigod with almost unlimited power and you make it a crappy tribal boost? At least Rosewater apologized for it.
The little Johnny in me (combined with the huge, optimistic Timmy I've always been) has always tried to find potential in every card, and a way to use a combo with Norin the Wary... I've consistently failed continuously. This card is worse than awful. It's the opposite of perfect and it makes me wonder why it exists. I think many cards are broken compared to this (and I'm talking common, 7-mana cost sorceries here). This makes almost every other card look good and, I dare say, even makes Sorrow's Path look sensible (at least that one stays in play).
lord of tresserhorn only because i tried so hard to make him work when alliances came out. pay 2 life, and probably 5 for 1 yourself after they plow it. YEEEEEAH!
Norin the Wary. Hands down. It was another middle finger (of many) aimed right at us, the players, from Time Sprial. What could you do with him besides some impossibly slow combos? I imagine WotC Development had a pretty good laugh at our expense when that card made it into the set.
I'll vote Lord of Tresserhorn. Sure, Norin doesn't do anything on his own, but Lord of Tresserhorn DOES something.
He HELPS YOUR OPPONENT WIN. That sounds pretty terrible to me.

Hey just wanted to thank everyone for the responses. There are many more than I was expecting. The main reason I asked the question was that me and said friend were looking through all of Magic's legends to try and find the worst one or ones to make an EDH general of. It seems to me that Lord of Tresserhorn and Norin the Wary along with several of those wonderful legends from Legends are all excellent choices. Thank you for your assitence.
I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause!

Gwafa? He has some real flavour going on, + the ability isn't as awful as it could be (he's in control colours, surely you can work it so they're drawing trash). Same thing with Veldrane of Sengir. I played him until I got a few copies of Ihsan's Shade.
All this hate for Norin, he's combo-riffic for the kids! Have none of you seen the complete waste of awesome flavour that is Pang Tong, "Young Phoenix"? Oh yeah, sorcery-speed toughness pump! Rising again! :monty:
Shimatsu is ok. Tokens are yummy. The Brothers Yamazaki - they rocked in Kamigawa draft. Oh, you killed one? I drafted three *haste to face* All are casual joy at any rate.
Kangee, Aerie Keeper is kind of sad, but tribal lords are tribal lords, after all.
Lord of Tresserhorn is under-manacosted, can be built around, + is at least interesting, unlike, say, Karona, False God(dess). She could win this if they hadn't thoughtfully errated her creature type so she at least pumps herself again, but it's pretty clear she's FLYING ALL OVER DOMINARIA, HELLO? Still, best use: imprinting on a Chrome Mox Also, I opened TWO non-foil in my Scourge box :mad:
At least Atogatog is funny the first time you see it.
The original, overcosted vanilla Legends legends aren't as bad as you want them to be, they're just kind of meh, + they saw play back in the day 'cos they were hella flavourful. Truth is, none of the cards mentioned here remotely compare to the slow joke that is Iname as One. :8mana::symb::symb::symg::symg: + it doesn't work if you cheat it into play or a graveyard, boo. . . what is this for, so you can Sickening Shoal a Darksteel Colossus? Unplayable.

Meh- he seems like a decent enough legend to me. Not GREAT, defintely, but not the worst ever either.
I throw my vote behind any of the vanilla legends as being the worst.
I'll pick the lady of the mountain since she has the lamest name and is way overcosted. Legends shouldn't be vanilla unless they are way under costed and even then only in small dog like quantities.
Forget comparing to cards today, just compare it to cards back then. Shivan Dragon cost 1 red instead of a green and then it gains flying, fire breathing, and you can have more than 1 in play.
Even the flavor is off. Other than mentioning a mountain, nothing screams red or green about this bird (let alone red/green).
This card is just garbage.

Lord of Tresserhorn is pretty big for his mana cost, but I Hate norin the wary mostly becuase he is attributed with such great flavour text.

General Jarkeld is a bit random, but far from useless.

So, anybody want to trade me an Angus Mackenzie?
Funny enough, he's half decent in the 5-color format.
You know what was a waste of a legend, maybe its not the worst ever, but it was probably the biggest disappointment.
