Seeing peoples sigs here I'm curious if the (random number) is every deck you have. Do people really enjoy the game with 2 decks in total?
Don't you get uber bored playing the same thing over and over?
Is it a newer player thing? A money issue? Are you satisfied with a few decks? Do you just play whatevers in standard at the time?
For people with a 3 or less decks, how long have you been playing?
People with a few decks listed in their sigs.. is that everything or just what you want to show? I've listed about 15 of my decks but have many more multiplayer decks.
I know my playgroup would burn out quickly if everyone had just a few decks.
I'm up to 41 from my count today. Some of it is old jank I don't really play much but the vast majority gets used. Some is really casual, some proxied vintage, multiplayer, one on one, then there are meaner legacy decks and my current fav, EDH. I only have 1 standard deck since the mythics have ruined the format IMO.
Yup. I drag all of them to gaming night via two two-row longboxes and a bag (which is still carry-able.) Keep in mind though, I've played since Ice Age and I like to play old stuff as well. In addition, I'm a casual player so I like to try all kinds of weird stuff of varying power levels, ie. oddball tribes, "build around me" cards, strange combos, etc.
But the variety comes at a cost though... I rarely optimize my decks, preferring to build several average ones rather than 2-3 really good decks. I would get bored if I had only a few decks to play. Also since there are too many to play, it takes a while to play a deck long enough to know how to improve it.
If you are bored you can click my sig to take you to a list of them all and many are posted in the Casual forum.
I have 5 at the moment, though I've had many more overall. I constantly deconstruct and rebuild because I have a ton of cards, but not a ton of copies, so sometimes I have to take parts out from one deck for another. My 5 decks are rarely stable, set decks as a result, lol.I'm considering just proxying all of my playsets. If I already own a full playset, I think my friends can accept it if I run proxies so I don't keep having to break up my decks.
That said, they tend to not be janky decks as a result (or terrible janky anyway), because I tend to like to run focused, clearly defined decks. So they tend to be of respectable (but still not Type 1, or really tournament grade, but very solid in our casual games and all have a well supported theme) quality. The majority of my 5 decks are based off of whatever the newest set is, so you'll notice that nearly all 5 are heavily invested in Scars, lol.

I currently have 123..some as old as the game is..and for exactly all the reasons that TheWarden stated above. old school casual with a love for wacky combos, tribal nonsense and build around me madness.
When I first started during revised my brother and I had five mono-chromatic decks (one for each color) and that was it. Even though we had dual lands, we stuck to just these (he played green and red, i played black and blue, and my little sister learned white).
After a 9 year hiatus, I came back and rebuilt all the decks but kept the original five close to their original roots, updating them with some newer cards. I've also expanded the deck selection to polychromatic and tribal.
It looks like I have 28 in all; many more than I first though.
All my decks are Vintage Legal and are used for casual game with my friends/family (as none of us play in tournaments)
i have my 3 fun decks that are multiplayer with absurd creature combos and board wipes. then my 2 1v1 decks that are for a little more competition. and my 1 standard deck for some serious play. lets face it, standard being as expensive as it is, you gota sink minimum 100$ to have a decent deck. mine has about 300$+ in it, id say thats enough for just 1 to keep playing.
Currently have 14 in all.
12 casual, 1 Legacy and 1 Vintage.
Casual:
UG Lorescale UGW Madness RB Aggro-Control UW Angels B Vampires UG Combo Elves RB Agadeem UWB Esper Aggro WG Spiritdancer BG Quillspike UG Polymorph URG Thresh - the "leader" of my casual decks. It's also the only one that has fetchlands.
Legacy:
Affinity - my favourite, even made a box for it. :3

i wanna make another type 1.x deck soon.

The last time I counted, I had around 74 decks. A couple of them are in disarray or in need of some upgrades, but I also have another 20 or so decks in the works. Most are casual, but I have playsets of most things considered to be staples in Legacy to make almost any Legacy deck. I think I enjoy the deckbuilding process more than the actual playing.
I've got about 7 I think. The ones in my sig, plus a couple casual ones. But I did just restart playing recently so I'm sure I'll build up more. I only really have T2 at the moment.
I have around 12 casual decks that I lend to my playgroup when they come over to play MTG, since many of them don't have their own decks. I also have my T2 deck and 3 EDH decks (building a 4th).

EDH: It's like a pillow fight, except occasionally someone pulls out a chainsaw.
If you suggest a card to add to a deck, suggest one to take out as well.
I have 33 casual decks. They are listed in my blog. I've gotten ideas for more decks but I've resisted because I felt like the number of decks that I own was getting up to a ridiculous number. After reading this thread, I don't feel so ridiculous hehe.

I would have more than 7-10, but making decks is hard when the cards cost so much money (and when many decks require sets of the same pricey cards)*.
I could build budget decks, but I don't find decks as fun if I have to build around some budget; rather, I let decks naturally fold around card choices that exclude too many expensive things.
I'm also a poor college student still, so ://
*I just realize that made no sense because I left out the followup: and when many decks require sets of the same pricey cards, it's hard to justify buying more of those cards just so you can build multiple decks that require them.
Then have him eat Nicol Bolas and the Magic universe can be awesome again. He takes over the Infinite Consortium and turns it into a trans-multiverse Izzet League. His agents scour the multiverse in Venser's planeships looking for magic to learn, technology to improve upon, and less intelligent people to condescend to.
