I have for a long time been using Kodama's Reach in my casual decks for land accel. I think it is a very good card but I have realized that I basically use that one because it was in my first set I have a bunch of it and I got comfortable with how it works.
So in the endeavor to better educate myself about different types of cards I would like to get some options on land tutors?
What in your opinion is the best land tutor card?
What is the most efficient CMC to land in play/hand?
My favorites are Harrow[/CARD] and Sakura-Tribe Elder.
Harrow is a real phenom with Terravore and it is mana acceleration to boot.
The Tribe-Elder soaks up a chump block, giving you an extra turn to get your mana going. These are good too.
land tax fills your hand with land for the meager price of W tithe, gets plain, and gets another plains. crop rotation i think this one is the best, G and sac my tapped land to put any land into play at instant speed sylvan scrying fetch any land land grant its free in the right deck sakura tribe elder very efficient for its CC
That is a great card. But it doesn't accelerate your land drops. It fixes your mana and accels you by 1 (the replacement for the one you used to cast the spell). Though at a cost of G it is hard to argue efficency. (wish i was playing during urza)
That is one of the reasons I like kodama's reach so much. It lets me get the color I need and get an extra land drop in even if that land can't be used till next turn.
Other efficient land tutors would be the various fetchlands, such as polluted delta. land tax is fine, as well as tithe, athough they are generally limited in use to white decks. krosan tusker, like a cat, is fine, too, as you also get a card from it and is generally uncounterable.
But seriously, everything mentioned in this thread is quite good, which one is best is going to be determined by what your deck is trying to do. If you have something like Gaea's Cradle in your deck then Crop Rotation is insane, if you need to fetch a basic Plains, it is fairly sub-optimal. Harrow is probably the best for maximizing available colors of mana, but STE and Kodama's Reach are both very good because they actually generate card advantage.

Boba Fett is B.A. Baracus and Walker, Texas Ranger all rolled into one. But evil.
Harrow is pretty awesome. I didn't know about that one.
what got me into this was thinking about what card to use for land accel in a casual deck based on the maro creatures from kamigawa and on. High mana cost creatures who need you to have lots of cards in hand to be useful.
But while I was at it i figured i would ask generically so i could get some pointer for future use. because i know the land tutors card we have seen recently (Gift of the Gargantuan, Recross the Paths, Wanderer's Twig, the panoramas) haven't been that great.

I was driven from this once-great site by abusive mods and admins, who create rules out of thin air to punish people for breaking them (meaning the rule does not exist under forum rules) and selectively enforce the rules that are written on the forum rules. I am currently lurking while deleting 6 years and 2 months of posting history. I will return when ExpiredRascals, Teia Rabishu and Blinking Spirit are no longer in power.
He is so man, he is mario, and I will tell my opponents such. As and when I bounce their permanent I will exclaim "MARIO" as though he were stomped on by our mighty Jace. Every time someone kill him I will give them 99 USD (not AUS!!!) because their lightning bolt should cost 100 DOLLARS...
Jace even made it into the Teenage Super Hero Mutant Ninja Hero Turtles.
Sylvan Scrying & Reap and Sow are good for finding those non-basic lands (gogo Cloudpost).
I have never played with Crop Rotation, but it looks frankly awesome.
Efficency depends on what you want to do. You might just use Greenseeker.
Another I don't think was mentioned is Krosan Tusker. If all you need is minimal fixing it'll grab 1 land, 1 card, and can't be countered short of a Stifle etc.
Well Crop Rotation is my all time, and most of the other good ones like Harrow have been said but since the printing I have liked Evolution Charm as one of my land go getters. It's instant end of turn and two other options are all very handy.

I haven't seen much love for evolution charm it is nice to get the extra options on it but 1G to get one basic land in your hand just never seemed efficient enough. though the other options in green can be helpful.
skyshroud claim is one of my favorite... It is sick with rofellos. With rofellos, llanowar emessary in play, it is effectively free. Its great for casual type accel. I run it in EDH whenever possible
And as for the evolution charm costing one more compared to the one cost ones. It is an instant and can leave mana up to control/answer with. I personally like that factor.

oh and harrow, another awesome land tutor

Yes, it accelerates land drops (At least in terms of amount of mana) if you rotate in tolarian academy or gaea's cradle or mishra's workshop into play, preferably when an opponent attempts to use wasteland or strip mine on you.

I think that one would actually mess the deck up as it is only 2 colors (UG)
explosive vegetation 1 more mana than reach or harrow, but both lands come directly into play
OPPONENT: Storm Count 10, Empty the Warrens, go.
ME: EOT, I tap this [random_green_land] and sac it for Crop Rotation, fetch The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale.
OPPONENT: Crap...scoop.
I have soft spot for Search for tomorrow.

Also, Scape Shift is cool.

Scape Shift is cool. it's crop rotation for any land you control. that can be great.
And as for the evolution charm costing one more compared to the one cost ones. It is an instant and can leave mana up to control/answer with. I personally like that factor.

Obviously like stated above, Crop Rotation, Harrow, Sylvan Scrying, but one that i did not see listed, and my personal favorite is Weathered Wayfarer
For more specialized decks, it'd be Crop Rotation/Scapeshift or Land Tax.
Krosan Verge is also good in 5C decks...like really good. (Go get 4 colors worth of duals?!)
