Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad are two planeswalkers with very similar abilities. At about the same casting cost, which do you think is better? Which would you rather use?
My vote goes to Elspeth. She fits in a lot of white decks, even those that have two or three colors. Both +1 abilities are relevant, and the -8 is just brutal (especially if you're running board sweepers). But I can see the argument for Sorin, with the emblem as well as the -6 which draws a removal spell by itself.
Elspeth is one color and kills an opponent more quickly on her own; she's also more difficult to kill, as both of her relevant abilities add loyalty. Additionally, her +1 Angelic Blessing ability is more effective at finishing stalled-out games quickly than either (both, even) of Sorin's +1 and -2 abilities.
That's not to say Sorin isn't good. He's just a short step down from Elspeth.
Elspeth all the way, really they aren't even close if you ask me. I think Sorin is good and will find a really good home at some point during his stay in standard but if old elspeth was in standard she would trump Sorin so hard.

Elspeth, Knight-Errant by far. She quickly gets out of hand and she beats Jace, The Mind Sculptor in a one-on-one fight.

Knight Errant is the best planeswalker in white, and probably the second best over all. Token gen, pump, and a perfect spot on the mana curve. Sorin is good, but hes not that good.
In a metagame of fliers Sorin is better, if fliers aren't as common Elspeth is better. Sorin has the better first and last abilities, it becomes a question of whether Elspeth's second ability is amazing or not.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Elspeth wins by a country mile. She goes into more decks with being only 1 color, and her 2nd ability is usually a lot more relevant as it's good at killing opposing planeswalkers.
I'd take Elspeth pretty much every time. Yeah she costs 1 more, and takes 5 clicks to go ultimate as opposed to Sorin's 4, but I think she defends herself way better and effects the board as well if not better, and her ultimate is almost certainly more powerful if it goes off. Being mono-white is a plus in my mind, as note a whole lot of decks want/need to run W/B.
I actually think that Sorin's Emblem is one of the best Planeswalker abilities ever printed. But that is -2 whereas Elspeth has two amazing +1 abilities so yeah she is better overall.
Personally I prefer Sorin. Elspeth is great all 3 abilities are solid and cost to starting loyalty is good. However they are intended to be used differently. Elspeth is more of a control oriented 'walker. Sorin is a midrange/aggro oriented walker. With a swarm of creatures Sorin has more potential to blow out an opponent. Where as with one solid creature (e.g. Akroma, Angel of Wrath) Elspeth can solidify a win with her second ability or her Ultimate. Sorin's Ultimate is perfect for midrange/aggro because for the most part he takes blockers or walkers that interfere with combat out the equation. This is just my opinion, humbly submitted.

Honestly like both a lot but i like that sorin's tokens can fly and that would let sorin win more easily if it was down to just sorin and elspeth 1 on 1
As far as playablity over power i say elspeth because she can boost creatures and get stronger where sorin gets weaker
When i read the poll i imediatley said sorin bc he has an emblem and he makes flyers but really i think elspeth is way better so i unofficially change my vote to elspeth

Anything that beats Jace single-handedly is a friend of mine
It seems as though Elspeth is far better than sorin. With my limited experience, I thought they were close, but I'm always a fan of dual +1 abilities

IMO, Elspeth, Knight Errant's second ability is the second best planeswalker ability ever (or maybe tied at second with Garruk Wildspeaker's first ability).

Elspeth is still boss because she has better casting cost and requires fewer creatures on the field to be useful (so you don't have to overextend).
