Everyone is talking about how Mudhole is one of the worst rares ever. I disagree completely! A "worst rare ever" nomination must have absolutely no purpose, other than to annoy/screw over the spell's caster. Mudhole is extremely effective against a deck based around Crucible of Worlds.
aladdins ring is fine, in a green deck, coming up with 8 mana is not really that hard, and it deals 4 damage, which is hardly useless.
That's not the point. I'm not going to spend 8 mana to play an artifact that can deal 4 damage to an opponent for 8 more mana next turn. There is NO reason for this card to be in any deck whatsoever because there are countless cards that can deal much more damage for a whopping total of 16 mana in two turns!
the worst rare, imo, has to be something that can't work well in ANY deck. norin is definitely not worst, because he's amazingly good with confusion in the ranks and not bad with pandemonium. sure, in a REGULAR deck he's completely useless, but in the RIGHT deck he's great.
sorrow's path is harder, but I've got a pestilence deck i considered using him in. it can be abused with cards like spitemare, wall of hope, swans of bryn argoli, tamanoa, vigor, rite of passage, phytohydra, etc. actually, that's about it. but still, especially with swans you can make a decent combo. i actually considered putting it in the deck.
now, compared to something like wood elemental. that card has, as far as i can tell, absolutely zero combo possibilities and is an utter piece of garbage. goblin hero, rare in starter, is also completely worthless to combo. (and murganda petroglyphs can be used with much better creatures)
people keep bringing up the "it's only the worst if it actually hurts you" but that's not necessarily true. if i have a card that does nothing, and a card that hurts me in my hand, i'm not going to PLAY either of them. so functionally they're the same level of badness. a card like great wall isn't likely to ever have any use EVER, whereas in the right deck, seemingly crap cards like sorrow's path and carnival of souls can actually be useful. the worst card is the one that you NEVER EVER want to play for any reason. if there's any possible combo with it, it can't be the worst.
Are you just trying to be clever? Without any explanation, I can't help but think you are nuts. It's a really really good card in a number of decks.
Really? I have two of them and every time I opened it I was like "*&^%! A card I can't use!" I guess I just haven't found a use for it...In my opinion, it's one of the worst.
Has anyone on this thread mentioned Leveler? WTF? No haste, cant kill in one hit, doesn't have any good side effects, and you lose the game on your next turn!
EDIT: I guess you could use it with a platinum angel combo but you would still have to cast PA before you cast leveler.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?
Goblin Assualt is an amazing card against 5CC. Swans ran it in the board and Spanish Inquisitions run them as well. They aren't Bitterblossom, but they put a nice steady pressure on your opponent and if you can get a few tokens out, you whittle their life away surprisingly fast.

If you are playing with Naya colors you could use Sigil Captain, I made a test deck with is and it did show some promise.

First that card just came out so Leveler has been useless until recently. Second that combo would probably take quite a while to get going. Third you would still need something else in your deck to make it a win.
I still believe Leveler is one of the worst cards ever.
no matter what you do, it will be 100% worse than dauntless dourbark and it will kill your tempo like no other. and ernham djinn combos much better with non-basic green-producers...if you can even call that a combo, anyway. There's simply no reason to ever play it, that I can think of. even more clearly, for goblin hero. there's no reason to ever put those cards in a deck. norin might be garbage in almost any deck, but he's great in the right one. even godlike cards like tinker are only useful in the right deck, that doesn't make them bad cards. so my vote for worst card would be one that is bad in ANY deck.

same for leveler. of course it's crap on its own. that why you use it in the right deck. and shared fate is even better than mirror of fate with it, imo. That was a very well known combo in mirrodin block. as long as it's possible to avoid the downside, a 10/10 for 5 isn't going to be the WORST. it's not good, but it's definitely not the worst.
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
EDH/Commander is a social format, right? So why don't people use their social skills to discuss what they like and don't like, instead of adopting a list with 60+ banned cards?

it does less than tormod's crypt or relic of progenitus at hosing graveyards. plus its a rare, which is losing out to commons.

Leveler plus Soldevi Digger, I get to cast the cards in my hand over and over.

According to this study I should be deaf by now.

It shouldn't be "dies"
It shouldn't be "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield"
It should be "is put into the graveyard from play"
Leveler + Mirror of Fate = Win next turn.

Well that is not completely true, with stuff like Erhnam Djinn, Llanowar Elves, Druid of the Anima, Noble Hierarch, Devoted Druid, Rampant Growth and Crucible of Worlds You could make something pretty powerful.

What the heck is that thing in the cauldron and why was ever printed
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No on will ever know
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you’ll always stay
that card's actually not that bad, it's just stupidly complicated. basically it lets you split the cost of a card over 2 turns, as far as i can tell.
because Minotaurs suck.

I'm going with Mirror of fate

Sorrow's Path.
I'll do you one better: Goblin Hero
But yeah, Sorrow's Path has consistently won in the general consensus and countless polls made about the matter.
I like 4/4s for 7.
It's actually a common. The Starter one was a misprint.
