I'm kind of amazed that Griselbrand hasn't been mentioned yet.
Hey, I mentioned griselbrand!
He's right up there with the best of them for closing out a game.

Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
Tarmogoyf is played, but it isn't being splashed for constantly.
As far as mana to damage, Goyf isn't actually as efficient as Reckless Waif, Delver or Nacatl. He'd have to hit 6/7 on turn 2 to do that. In standard, I'm not sure he's even as good as Cloistered Youth.
Morphling, before the rules change (6th ed rules I believe, but its been awhile).
Because they keep ramping up creature power and banning all the truly broken ones (see: Hermit Druid) its hard to really appreciate the "best" creatures as I think this is something that is constantly changing (or at least new contenders are being produced).
Its not like equipment (Skullclamp or Jitte) or draw spells (Recall, Gush, Brainstorm etc.) where we have probably seen the most busted versions of these types of cards.
Creatures are being pushed to death and WOTC is constantly cooking up new broken ones to push the envelope further. I would be very surprised if there was not new creatures added to this list in a years time or even 6 months from now.
Who's to say we will never see a goyf-idant for 1 colorless and a blue? I definitely think creatures are the one area of magic left where we may get to see true brokeness being printed in the future, as WOTC is hell bent on taking it out of the rest of the game or at least learning from their previous so called "mistakes" they made outside of creature-ville.
I couldn't name a specific one, but I'll just say I've seen some positively disgusting **** happen off of a Goblin Recruiter.
Or T1 0-drop + Welder + Mass Hysteria, which is arguably even worse, since he gets an attack, but I'm fairly sure this requires more cards to do.
I agree, the recruiter deserves much more mention than he has gotten.
The Confident is great for CA, but the fact that he is really only effective in a weanie deck kinda takes away from his power... (to me)
Just for a suggestion, i would throw out Devoted Retainer, I loved having what might as well be a 2/2 on turn 1 heh
I wish stone forge was banned. wizards says well she's a creature she dies to removal, ... she let's you play an equipment toolkit in your main deck and does everything she needs to do as soon as she enters play. even if you remove her she's drawn you one of the best cards in the game.
I am just soooo surprised not a single other person has mentioned Juzam Djinn than me... I mean really? 5/5 for 2 initial cost+ -1 life at the beginning of your turn? I mean what kinda loss is that really? haha And people say the Dark Confident is broken
There are overpowered cards, and there are overpowered creatures. When I think of "overpower" in terms of creature, I'm thinking physical bang for buck, creature I'd be scared to see on the field.
Dark Confidant is a fairly overpowered card, but he's a weak creature; He's ability required him to sit on the sidelines and not be hit by anything, and as a creature, he's pretty susceptible to bounce/removal. If he was an enchantment, for whatever reason, he's be an entirely different story.
I'd say Tarmogoyf and Delver of Secrets do count as overpowered creatures in my book, because a turn 1 or 2 drop with either can easily change the game. Swinging with a 3/2 flyer on turn two can be lethal. Bob, on the other hand, though gives redic card advantage, can be pinged off by just about any color. His weakness is that he's a creature, thus, in my book, not overpowered.
Being a creature instead of an enchantment is part of why Bob is so good. Him having a body means he can swing, he can block, and he is much easier to remove (especially considering black can deal with creatures far better than enchantments) if he starts hurting too much.
Anyways, my vote goes to Hermit Druid. He literally reads T: Win the game.
Overall those two are probably the most played across all formats they were and are legal in. They fit in many builds, and warp decks around them often.
There's a reason Goyf is $100 and Bob is $50. Likely that reason is they'd be more if a goyf reprint wasn't around the corner, and a judge bob didn't exist.
Juzam Djinn costs 2BB, not BB.
It used to be really good because it could be played on turn 2 with Dark Ritual in a time where Grizzly Bears were considered a good creature. Today, Juzam Djinn is totally unplayable.
I could have sworn I typed 4... oh well. Still, as a turn 2 drop it has been almost unrivaled. And I know you aren't trying to say a 2/2 for 2 is a "bad" creature... lol because there are far, far worse that can be named.
Although, I can admit I was wrong when I used to believe there was no use for Scornful Egotist lol

I wonder what would happen if Dark ritual were printed in standard?

Goyf is $100 because it's an extremely good and efficient creature in two non-rotating formats and it was printed in the third set of a block, which means supply is smaller than it is for Bob (printed in the first set of a block) due to shorter drafting time. If it'd been in Time Spiral instead, its price would be closer to Bob's. But the convergence of those two factors creates a ridiculous price spike that you don't usually see (Jace 2 has a similar problem).
ofc, there are many overpowered cards... but either they are high in mana cost or good in price.. or difficult to get.
Like Gandalf said in "The Hobbit"...:
"Saruman believes that only great power can fight great evil. I believe it are the small things that matters."
My evil card Vampire Nighthawk
Those abilities for that mana cost... and easy aviable.... do like

I really don't think judge promos are meant to lower the cost of cards.
Used to think that Tarmogoyf was pretty boss, but on his own he doesn't net you rediculous card advantage like Bob, Stoneforge and Snapcaster.
I feel like Imperial Recruiter is the real deal and a force to be contended with. I bet more people would brew with him if they could actually get their hands on any.
I might have missed it, but I don't think people were talking about Protean Hydra, they were talking about Protean Hulk.
Geist is very powerful, but not in the discussion for most powerful creatures of all time.
I think Deathrite Shaman is close to being more powerful than Tarmogoyf in both Legacy and Modern.
Geist has hexproof, too. You can't target him. But I can target him.
If you want to look at the 'biggest creature' then it's clearly BFM/emrakul, if you want to look at cost efficiency, it's Geist. Just wait for Geist to dominate standard post gatecrash.

or memnite.
now he is. back in the day when everybody was splashing green and renaming decks "next level" because they did this? yeah he was much better then.
Hands down.

He's so broken, so broken, I don't know how the development team allowed it to go to print.

Must be nice... haha, I only have 1. My 2 Captivating Vampires make me wanna build an all vamp deck superbad.
