I wish I planned for it. I used to be a semi-regular at Anime Imports.
I asked this before, but is there any LGS in the immediate SF Area that has reasonable Parking? And also some space in the LGS.
I guess it is too much to ask for an LGS in San Francisco that has the size of Superstars in San Jose lol. I checked out Versus games and the place is super narrow (then again most LGSs are like that I guess)
Edit* Doesn't have to be SF, but I'm fine driving to places like Anime Imports (Pacifica). I also do not prefer to cross the bay bridge. San Jose is probably the farthest I'd go but it's like an hour lol.
Edit 2* Also anyone going to SCG Open Sac Nov 1-2?

As for roomiest, it's probably Anime Imports, although it's even cramped in there.
Parking usually isn't too bad at versus. I'm usually there a few times a week and parking on the streets a block away is open 90% of the time.
As for SCG, I'd definitely like to go, but depends on my schedule.
Did anyone here go to the Eudemonia KTK Sealed PTQ or the Channel Fireball TCGPlayer Standard States Championship last Saturday? I would have gone but I stayed up until 3 am on Friday night so there was no chance I was waking up in time for either of those events.
The Starcity Games Standard States Championship is next Saturday October 11, in Santa Rosa.
I am definitely going to the Open on the 2nd for Legacy. Got a request in for a vacation day already, and no staying up until 4 am drinking the night before like last year....

I might go to SCG Oakland to play Standard (I don't own a Legacy deck).
I went to the TCGPlayer States and made Top 8.
However, the turnout was pretty small (there was only 50 people)
I suspect that most players went to the PTQ at Eudo instead.
Anyone ever been to Outer Planes in Santa Rosa?
I'm about 60% sure that I'm going to SCG States, but am not sure if it's worth it. Is it a good store?
I go there at least once a week to play Modern. It's not the worst store I've been too, but it definitely has its issues. The player base is ok, and the store is relatively big, but their singles selection for non-standard cards is pretty awfull. My biggest complaint is their customer service though, they're one of those shops staffed by people who are really into gaming, but are extremely lacking in social skills. For example I usually work weekends, but had a random Saturday off, and they had a Legacy tournament on their schedule for that day. So I showed up, paid my $20, and sat down to wait for the event. I got sucked into a game of commander, and by the time it was done it was over an hour after the event was supposed to start. I went to go see what was up, and the guy at the counter (the same one who took my money and signed me up) said that their weekend Legacy events hadn't fired in about 6 months, and I was the first person to even come in and sign up in about 4, and was the only one who showed up for it that day. I asked why he didn't let me know any of that when I had signed up and paid, and he just kind of shrugged and went back to messing around on his computer. To make it worse, I was early enough that if he had let me know the event was never going to fire, I could have made it to Berkeley for a legacy tournament Eudo was doing that day. The whole thing really rubbed me the wrong way.
Sorry I did mean SCG Open Oakland, idk why I said sacramento lol (maybe there was SCG Open there before).
SCG: Sacramento was 2 years ago, IIRC. The deck that won the legacy portion was named "Blouses". It was a bant deck featuring Geist of Saint Traft + Troll Ascetic, as well as Spectral Flight, Unstable Mutation and Riding of the Dilu horse.
I built and played mono red painter at the Eudo GPT for New Jersey. Only like 14 people showed up, so a 2-1 record was good enough for everyone to draw into top 8.
R1 I played against welder mud. Kept an opener on the play with one land 2 spirit guides and a blood moon. He casually played "mountains", tapped them for a metalworker and tapped it for a million mana. Game 2 was about the same - metalworker came down before I could combo off and assorted robots killed me.
R2 played against sneak and show. G1 I kept him from playing anything super scary with red blast effects. He kept forcing my painters. My third painter finally resolved when I had 2 grindstones on the field. He scooped when he couldnt stop the painter coming into play. After sideboarding it dawned on him that he had emrakuls in his deck and grindstone alone doesnt do it. Game 2 I resolve a moon effect which ended up giving him like 10 mountains by the end of the game. Beat him to death with welders, painters and imperial recruiters while Jaya Ballard destroyed the most relevant blue permanent he had every turn.
R3 I played against mostly-mono-blue omnitell. I opened with a mountain into top. He fetched basics. He cunning wished for intuition on one end step, intutioned for show and tell next turn, so my 4th turn was my last. In play I had 4 mountains and 2 welders. In hand I only had a painter and a grindstone. Topdecked a lotus petal. Play petal and sac it to play painter (3 mountains still untapped). Play grindstone (2 mountains untapped). Weld out painter for petal. Sac petal and tap 2 mountains to activate grindstone. In response, weld out grindstone for painter. Game 2 he mulls to 5 and keeps a hand with one boseiju and 2 leyline of sanctity. I resolve a turn 1 painter, red blast his first island, play a thorn of amethyst and beat him with whatever was available.
R4 ID into top8
R5 I played against the top seed death and taxes. I made a huge misplay game 1. I had a turn 2 choice of magus of the moon or blood moon. I went with magus, he floated white and sworded it. Then I couldnt afford to play the blood moon because he played other threats that needed addressing, so his karakas and port were unmolested for the rest of the game. Game 2 I made equal parts pro and terrible plays. I had an active grim lavamancer and he says "no card in graveyard?" I agree and he plays thalia. I pyroblast thalia on his end step which does nothing because she isnt blue, then fetch and use the mountain to ping her for 2. He liked the play. Eventually I cobble together painter stone and grind him out. Game 3 hes on the play and drops an early leonin arbiter. I even read it aloud "players cant search libraries unless they pay..." I crack a fetch next turn with only one mountain and he says "pay 2" I pitch a simian, tap my mountain and grumble a little bit. That huge misplay probably cost me the game. Between his thalia and his rishadan port, I couldnt get enough mana to drop a blood moon. And I coudlnt build up enough mana to play and protect my painter.
2-2-1 in my first go with the deck. Was a lot of fun. Learned a lot through playing it. Ill consider playing it at the SCG open.
I'm doing legacy both days. Parking was such a nightmare last year that I'm not even going to bother with it. I'm going to park at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and just take the train in. The 12th St BART station is right next door to the hotel where the open is.
The hotel parking lot has plenty of parking, though it will cost you 25 dollars (this is the max limit, reached after four hours). It's not the best option, but it's there.
As for me, it's unlikely I am attending, as I have a friend visiting from out of town that Saturday. Somehow I don't think she would enjoy watching me play Magic for two to twelve hours.

Focused on limited for now. Occasionally play some standard/modern as well.
I was planning to be at SCG Oakland this weekend. Unfortunately, the modern and legacy metas are currently terrible for both my decks: living end and pox. Should I still go?
I know Sparki went into round eight in twelfth place. Not sure if he won this round, but I hope he did. I lost this round finishing at five to three. I went into this round at rank twenty-four out of about two-hundred players. First major Legacy tournament, and I won my entry back, AND I got Patrick and Ceddy to sign some of my cards. Today was a good day. B)
Props to Sparki. I left before top 8 played out, hopefully he got up there. Also went 5-3, lots of good games. And I managed to pick up a minty English Ravages of War to finish off my Avacyn EDH deck! Screw the spirit of edh.

Thanks. I lost in the quarters to ANT.
How much did that ravages set you back? I have my copy in cube proxied since I believe they will reprint it eventually..
$475 for a nm. A little more than places like ABU Games has them for, but it was there, I had the store credit, and no worries about some mailman bending anything.
